We are first and foremost a vegan and PETA-certified brand. That means that we refuse to use any materials that come from animals or harm them. All the leathers you see on our products are either bio-based -made from Apples, and Corn, or made of recycled synthetic materials, such as old PET bottles.
In addition to using animal-friendly products on our shoes, we also actively support and donate to pro-animal organisations such as Refuge GroinGroin, with whom we literally liberated our adoptive pig Bernadette from being slaughtered for the meat production. She now lives happily on a farm nearby Le Mans.
Unlike many other brands, our “vegan shoe” does not mean “plastic shoe”. We minimise the use of virgin materials and focus on recycled, upcycled, and bio-based materials that reduce our footprint and avoid creating unnecessary waste.
In addition to relying on recycled raw materials, we recently launched our own recycling program “LOOP” with the goal of coming one step closer to extending our product lifecycles. Simply send us back your pre-loved shoes once you are not using them in return for a discount on your next pair, and we will use them as raw material for new Virón soles to prolong their life and functionality. One step closer to circularity!
We actively participate in supporting and donating to pro-environmental organisations such as ‘1% for the planet’ to further stimulate the recovery of natural habitats.
Lastly, our production takes place in family-run factories in Portugal. To uphold high social standards our team audits the workshops in person several times a year. We ensure they adhere to a strict code of conduct that protect workers' rights and safety. All workers also receive a salary above the Portuguese minimum wage.
In addition to upholding strict standards to ensure social sustainability, we also support and donate to pro-societal organisations such as LGBTQIA+ initiatives to reinforce our positive impact on society.
